Italy Motorcycle Brands Benelli and Moto Morini Coming to Pakistan with Local Assembly

Pakistan’s motorcycle industry will soon see some big changes with Benelli and Moto Morini motorcycles coming to the country through local assembly. Buraq Automobile are building a local assembly plant in Punjab that will start operating in 2027.

This could help boost the premium motorcycle market in Pakistan by bringing some new modern engine technology. Reports have been made on the 26th and 27th of October 2026 stating that they will begin local assembly on select models from both brands.

Buraq Automobile Begin Local Assembly

Buraq Automobile, the official distributor of Benelli, Moto Morini and QJMOTOR are beginning to shift away from fully imported motorcycles and begin local assembly.

They are building a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) plant in Sheikhupura, Punjab. This means that imported parts will be used to assemble the motorcycles in Pakistan.

The plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2026 with the first locally assembled motorcycles due in January 2027. This will depend on how quickly they complete the project.

What Italian Brands Are Being Assembled?

Initially they will be assembling Benelli and Moto Morini.

1. Benelli Motorcycles

Benelli are known for their sporty styles and have many models for those looking for an alternative to standard commuter bikes.

Reports state that they will begin local assembly on the Benelli 180S. They will then move onto the Benelli TNT 150i. If the assembly plans go ahead then you could see a price drop from importing.

The Benelli TNT 150i could be a model that people in Pakistan will be interested in as it is a premium 150cc motorcycle with a unique style.

2. Moto Morini Motorcycles

Moto Morini are an Italian motorcycle brand that produce larger capacity models such as adventure and touring.

They will initially be assembling the Moto Morini Alltrhike 450. They will then move onto a 300cc adventure motorcycle.

The Alltrhike 450 is a great choice for those wanting to go on longer rides. The local assembly could mean more people will be able to get their hands on this brand if there is a significant price drop.

Potential Price Drops on Italian Motorcycles

A large benefit to local assembly is that you could see a price drop.

Fully imported motorcycles usually incur duty charges. CKD assembly can help with this but it depends on what taxes are applied, what the parts cost, what the exchange rate is and how much they are producing.

Reports state that the imported Moto Morini Alltrhike 450 was around Rs. 2.6 million whereas the locally assembled model would be around Rs. 1.995 million.

This is a potential saving of around Rs. 605,000 which equates to around 23% off. This is just an indication from reports though and not guaranteed that all models will have such a big price drop. It will depend on what the company actually announce.

Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI)

Another benefit to this project is that they will be bringing EFI motorcycles.

EFI uses an electronic system to control how much fuel goes into the engine. This can provide a more accurate measurement compared to carburettors. It can also help with fuel economy, quicker starts and improved engine responsiveness depending on the motorcycle and conditions.

This could mean riders in Pakistan will get access to more modern technology on their premium motorcycles.

However, it may mean that there needs to be better access to trained mechanics, diagnostic tools and spare parts. The manufacturers and distributors will need to provide good service to customers.

What Does This Mean for the Motorcycle Industry in Pakistan?

In Pakistan, we tend to use smaller capacity motorcycles for our daily commute. Premium motorcycles are a smaller market as they are more expensive to buy and maintain.

By having locally assembled Benelli and Moto Morini models we could see more competition.

Benefits include:

More choice for those wanting premium motorcycles.

Potentially cheaper prices.

More modern engine technology.

Local assembly.

More competition between manufacturers and distributors.

However, it depends on what the final retail prices are, how much they produce, how many spare parts they have and how good their customer service is.

Will This Create Competition for Established Brands?

Having locally assembled premium motorcycles could create more competition for established manufacturers.

Established brands that provide commuter motorcycles tend to have a good network of dealerships, easier maintenance and lots of spare parts. New premium models will need to be reliable, cheaper to own and have good resale value.

Benelli and Moto Morini could be good for those wanting a bigger capacity engine, unique styling and extra features.

It depends on if the overall ownership experience is seen as competitive.

Conclusion

Overall, having Benelli and Moto Morini models being locally assembled could be an important change for the premium motorcycle industry in Pakistan. Having the plant in Sheikhupura from Buraq Automobile could help get select Italian models to local customers at more competitive prices.

As they will be starting local assembly in 2027, customers will be looking out for when they are officially launching, what the final prices are and what after sales support they have.

If everything goes well with the plan it could give more choice to consumers and create more competition within the growing motorcycle industry in Pakistan.
